Kazakhstan gas transportation system has withstood the emergency load
24.02.2021On February 23, an emergency situation occurred on the main gas pipeline “Soyuz”, passing through the territory of the Russian Federation. In this regard, transit of gas was suspended. National operator JSC “KazTransGas” has taken prompt measures to compensate for the under-supplied volumes of gas and ensure stable gas supply to consumers in West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions.
For this purpose, operational switches were made at the Kulsary, Makat, and Zhangala compressor stations, which allowed redirecting gas flows from the Central Asia-Center highway to the Soyuz and Orenburg-Novopskov gas pipelines.
Quick actions by the employees of JSC “KazTransGas” helped to ensure stable operation in West Kazakhstan region: 28 gas station, 2 gas turbine power plants, 1 thermal power station in Atyrau region, 21 gas distribution stations, 1 power plant and 1 gas turbine electric power station. Thus, an uninterrupted supply of commercial gas was provided for all categories of consumers of the above-mentioned regions of the country.
In order to maintain a stable mode of gas transportation through the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent main gas pipeline and to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to other regions of Kazakhstan, the National gas operator has increased gas extraction from the underground gas storage facility “Bozoi”. In addition, an additional 5 gas pumping units were launched at the compressor stations of the Bukhara-Ural gas pipeline.
Thanks to the operational work of the operational teams of JSC “KazTransGas”, there were no restrictions on the supply of commercial gas in the western region of Kazakhstan, all objects of the gas transmission system, as well as heat and power supply facilities are operating normally.
